Discipline and Persistence Support Success

One of my clients refused to align his numbers properly for addition and subtract. He was a second grader. We began by explaining place value. We completed base ten activities, as well as addition and subtraction drills. After a few weeks, there was a breakthrough. He began completing word problems with multiple-digit values.
This is a small victory, but a victory nonetheless. We will conquer counting large amounts of money next. This was definitely needed affirmation.
